Interview with Harry: The Car Song

On behalf of TCE.info, I had the chance to interview Harry via email about the latest single, The Car Song. Here's what Harry has to say:

Casey: Your latest single, The Car Song, has an action-packed film clip. Can you say a little on what it's about?

Harry: The clip is a freudian psychological basketball game which is loosely based on some kind of half-baked knowledge of psychoanalysis and the rules of basketball, courtesy of Mr Ben Quinn. Ben pretty much ran with the lyrics of the car song and this is what he came up with, so full credit to him.

Casey: At a concert at the Metro, when you were filming for your DVD, you
mentioned that your film clips were all of you playing music, because you
tried acting and it hadn't really worked. But that's changed with The Car Song. What's changed?

Harry: I hadn't tried acting. I'm a good actor. I think even bad acting is probably better than mimed playing.

Casey: Who did you work with to make the film clip? Any comments about the
filming in comparison to previous clips? Where did the idea of the basketball game come from?

Harry: The idea came from the director, Ben Quinn. His pitch to us was one of many, but it just stood out right from the start, we could imagine what the finished product was going to look like, and then when it was finished, it actually did look like that! That's never happened before. It was nice to work with a director who really had their own strong vision for the clip, didn't take any shit on the day and then encouraged us all to beat each other up at the end.

Casey: You've just been on tour in the US. Do you find that crowds respond the same way everywhere you go? Are there any surprise hits?

Harry: Saltwater in France is a revelation. Apart from that, people seem to respond pretty much the same all over the world.

Casey: Thanks for your time, and good luck with everything!
