"Ross Irwin is a trumpet player, educator, arranger and composer from Melbourne, Australia. As well as playing, musically directing and arranging for ensembles in Melbourne such as, The Australian Showband, The Cat Empire, The Andy Swann Orchestra, The Bamboos, and many others, he also runs his own jazz orchestra which plays original music and is comprised of some of Melbourne’s best jazz and commercial players. He has toured the country as one of the “Empire Horns”, with one of Australia’s leading bands, “The Cat Empire”, as well as being invited interstate to work as a clinician and guest artist in high schools. Ross has played at festivals all over the country including the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, the Manly International Jazz Festival, the Meredith Music Festival, Livid, Perth Blues and Roots and the Big Day Out. As well as a number of recording credits including pop albums, Big bands and film soundtracks, Ross has also performed on such TV shows as The Panel, Good Morning Australia and Rove Live. Ross has backed artists such as, Nina Ferro, Daryl Somers, Bob Valentine, LA studio musician and arranger, Bill Broughton, The Resin Dogs, James Morrison, Australian Idol Guy Sebastian, Vanessa Amarossi, award winning British author and comedian, Ben Elton, Roger Taylor and Brian May of legendary British rock band, QUEEN, as well as doing supports for the “Black Eyed Peas”, and the Godfather of soul, James Brown, on his most recent Australian tour."
