Moulin Rouge, Sydney

A "secret" gig at the Moulin Rouge, Sydney.

Claire contributes this from the forums:

it was almost a religious experience... very intimate setting with decor that reminded me a little bit of the spiegeltent (no wonder they chose it)

unfortunately most of my friends bailed on me with a "sorry, but it's a monday night" excuse - PAH! so there were 4 of us, and not many more than 120 all up!

They played some great new songs (some of which they'd never performed live before):
- a voodoo cowboy somg from harry
- a song from felix that made alot of us cry - can't remember the name of it... something latin to do with churchbells... then he followed it up with an austrian waltz which was a cack!
- there was another dose of that beautiful lost song duet...
... and many more!

perhaps the highlight of the evening was when there were about 30-40 people left (incl the band) - and there was a sponatneous daggy song/jazz standard sing-a-long. It was started by Julie O'Hara and Kieran and Ross (empire horn boys) singing a jazz song (the name of which has slipped my mind)... then harry got up and sang "Please forgive me" - Bryan Adams... and it went downhill from there - hours of fun!
